Community In Schools of the Charleston Area, is a nonprofit dropout prevention agency whose mission is to champion all youth to stay in school by connecting the best community resources with the needs of the students, their families and schools. The Communities In Schools Student Support Program is designed to address risk and protective factors that influence a child's decision to stay in school. Both school-wide and individual services are provided. Children identified to be at risk for not completing high school are case-managed and offered a blanket of scientifically proven protective services to counter the risk factors they may face. Fran Hawk to Visit JEES!!
We are fortunate enough to have local author Fran Hawk come to our school Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Ms. Hawk has been a Media Specialist for CCSD schools and a writer for the Post & Courier that reviews children's books. She is doing a session with parents/guardians that morning about raising readers. She wrote Ten Tips for Raising Readers. We are excited that she is coming. A special thank you to Joann Liles for making this possible - Thank You!!
