 Questions about next year?
Next year we will become a CD-6 school. We are losing our 7th & 8th graders to Baptist Hill High School. At a recent PTA meeting parents had questions about the transfer from our school to Baptist Hill. Mrs. Miles spoke to Dr. Winbush and here are the answers to your questions.
-
Will middle school classes be single gender? That is the current plan.
-
What will the class size be? If single gender, about 12 students. If not, about 19 students.
-
Will there be a meeting before school to orient parents to Baptist Hill? Yes, on May 2nd. (Mrs. Miles forgot to ask the time.) He said that he would be sending us an announcement to go home to parents.
-
Will there be Honors classes for middle school students? Only 8th grade math next year.
-
What about the booklet some parents received in March? That was generated from a student database at Jane Edwards. (We will need to verify its accuracy.)
-
Will bus stops be at homes? They are working with Durham Bus and hope to have an answer May 2nd.
-
What is May 2nd? It is Open House and a workshop.
-
Will middle school students be in mobiles? "Yes. I know parents are concerned about safety. That is our number one priority."
-
Will middle school students be able to participate in extracurricular activities such as band and athletics? Absolutely!
We will keep you updated as we get information. We will miss having the 7th and 8th grade.
