Full STEAM ahead… Bridging to the future!

STEAM Instructional Approaches are embedded in Jane Edwards School instructional program. STEAM learning is problem-based and inquiry rich. Content, technology, and arts integration equip Jane Edwards’ students with essential 21st Century Skills. We also strive to provide opportunities for student choice, authentic assessments, and making learning public.

The Engineering Design Process (EDP) is the “heart” of our problem-based learning approach.

The Media Center and Computer Lab at Jane Edwards are not your typical classrooms. The maker mindset began here for our students and is cultivated every week in the Makerspace. Students are invited to change their negative understanding of failure, determine their own direction, research and innovate solutions to problems, and participate in literacy-based or student-initiated build challenges.
It is a flexible space with art/construction materials and tools. The area has fixed stations which allow students the opportunity to investigate and problem solve as a team and explore individually.
